On April 19, UnidosUS hosted a virtual town hall, "Latina Wealth: How Investments We Make Today Can Begin Closing the Gap,” which provided important analysis on the systemic barriers that Latinas face in improving their finances as well as recommendations on how to dismantle them. The discussion also featured the release of our new report, “Closing the Latina Wealth Gap: Building an Inclusive Economic Recovery After COVID,” and featured special remarks from Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV).

Approximately one in five renters are at risk of eviction. The risk is even higher for our community. For example, the week of July 21, one in three Black and Latino renters reported that they were unable to pay rent, compared with 20% of White and Asian renters.

About 50 percent of community college students in the state experienced food insecurity before the pandemic; 60 percent faced housing insecurity.
